Langworthy’s Response

Tracking Code: [17GKXL-7PL2P] Response Date: February 5, 2026 (4:53 PM)

“Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.”

On border enforcement:

“After four years of the Biden Administration, during which over 10 million individuals illegally entered the country – including over 13,000 convicted murderers and nearly 300 people on the FBI’s terrorist watchlist – our immigration system was beyond broken. In President Trump’s first year alone, the Administration has taken significant steps to secure the border, with encounters at the Southern Border dropping by 95% compared to the Biden Administration. Additionally, DHS has overseen the deportation of 2.6 million illegal aliens, while Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested 1,416 known or suspected terrorists and more than 7,000 gang members.”

On Noem’s comment about the Minneapolis protester:

“That being said, I strongly believe that the recent tragedies in Minnesota must be thoroughly examined to ensure all the facts are clear and accountability is upheld. I also think Secretary Noem’s comment referring to a protester who lost his life on January 24, 2026, as a domestic terrorist was out of line and unfortunate.”

Pivoting to committee hearing and Tom Homan:

“I am looking forward to DHS Officials testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee on February 10, 2026… I am encouraged that President Trump has made changes on the ground in Minnesota to lower the temperature. President Trump has tasked Tom Homan – who has served under six Presidents, including Presidents Obama and Trump – to lead this effort and restore safety to our streets.”

What This Response Does NOT Address

  1. Constituent’s actual opposition to Noem — response defends DHS operations broadly
  2. Whether Langworthy supports Noem remaining in her position — no direct answer
  3. Accountability for the Minneapolis shooting — defers to committee hearing
  4. Noem’s characterization of victim as “domestic terrorist” — called “out of line” but no action demanded

Notable Element

Langworthy acknowledges Noem’s comment was “out of line and unfortunate” — one of the few instances of mild criticism of a Trump appointee in documented correspondence. However, the response still defends DHS operations and frames the issue primarily around immigration enforcement.
